Our Christmas Tree in the Dining Room at Night
Christmas is my favourite holiday. Today, I’m sharing our Christmas tree in the dining room at night.
My younger daughter and I decorated our Christmas tree in the dining room. This is where we gather together with family and friends for the holidays. We placed the tree by a French door that’s beside our family room and opposite to our front door, and so I feel like this is a perfect location.
Over the years, we’ve often decorated real Christmas trees, which we love. Additionally, I happened to purchase this tree at IKEA a few years ago. It’s affordable and perfect for our small home as well.
Upon fluffing and arranging the branches, I added classic white lights and an angel tree topper. At nighttime, it feels so warm and magical with the sparkling lights.

Our Christmas tree is decorated with ornaments that we’ve collected, like traditional European glass ornaments. One year, I bought painted wooden ornaments while attending a classic Victorian Christmas event. We have ornaments that were gifts and other cherished ornaments that were handmade by my daughters.
Ribbon is a pretty, inexpensive, and festive decoration for the holidays. This year, we placed bows that I made from red satin ribbon on the tree. I love decorating for the holidays with velvet ribbon as well. In addition, I found the soft blue ribbon while shopping at a craft store. Someday, I’d like to decorate for Christmas with a soft blue or pink as the primary colour. However, I love the traditional red and green Christmas colours, which remind me of past Christmases and complement our Old Country Roses collection that’s displayed in the cabinet. This collection is from my grandmother, and it was the inspiration for the pink and burgundy dresses that I bought for my daughters one year for Christmas.
I wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
